Provanto® Ultimate Bug Killer is the go-to insecticide for gardeners, it is fast acting and gives up to two weeks of control. It kills most common pests including Greenfly, Whitefly, Caterpillars, Blackfly, Pea & Bean Weevils, Sawfly, Leaf Beetles, Capsids, Red Plum Maggot and Plum Fruit Moth. The active ingredient is Deltamethrin.

“I’ve found Provanto Ultimate Bug Killer (1L Ready to Use) a very useful option as a bonsai insecticide. It’s a broad-spectrum general insecticide, so it can tackle many of the pests that commonly affect bonsai. While I can’t say it’s been tested on every single bonsai species, we’ve had very good success with it on the most popular varieties.
If you’re concerned, I’d recommend trying it on a small area first and always following the instructions on the bottle carefully. As this is not a product we manufacture ourselves, we can’t take responsibility for its performance or suitability for any specific species—but in my own experience, it has been very effective.
I particularly like the ready-to-use spray format, which makes application quick and easy. My top tip is to make sure you spray under the leaves as well as on top, since pests often hide there. Personally, I usually take my bonsai outside when spraying so I’m not breathing in any chemicals while treating the tree preventatively.”
