I was absolutely delighted with Bonsai Direct’s service! I ordered my tree a fortnight ahead because there was a cold snap coming. True to their word, the tree was packed up beautifully and arrived when the weather had turned again. It was packed very securely, the soil was nice and damp so they’d clearly given it a soaking before it set off, and the little tree was in great condition - even a few flower buds! It was exactly what I’d hoped for, so I’ll definitely be using this company again. Great work!

Holly Noall has a natural born talent, matched with pure passion, for all things bonsai and has been on her bonsai journey for roughly 20 years now. She began caring for these miniature trees, by pruning and shaping, from the moment she could walk. She has now dedicated her life to growing bonsai.

“The Fukien Tea Tree is a flowering variety of bonsai, mostly recognised by their deep glossy leaves and white flowers.” They are also known as the Carmona microphylla and are native to the Fujian province of China. However, you can also find them in other parts of Asia like Taiwan and Vietnam. “The Tea Tree bonsai are one of the most popular bonsai we grow as they are easy to care for.”

“As an evergreen species, these bonsai grow leaves all year round. When the weather warms up in the summer, they will produce its pretty white flowers.” They have gained popularity as an ornamental plant globally, often cultivated for the aesthetic appeal they bring to gardens and homes.

Historically, they have been cultivated for centuries, dating back to the Tang Dynasty, primarily for their tea leaves, renowned for their subtle flavour and aroma. “In recent years, they have become sought after as a bonsai plant due to their small leaves and adaptability to various shaping techniques.”

“My team and I have been growing these bonsai for many years which has entailed years of pruning, shaping and repotting. These bonsai couldn’t want for much more!” These bonsai have received a fantastic start in life with Holly. “They are excellent quality, ranging in size, style and price. Bonsai expert Holly literally grew up with a pair of bonsai scissors in her hand. As Lloyd’s eldest daughter, Holly has benefitted from growing up on the nursery. Despite being in her early twenties, Holly already has many years of bonsai experience under her belt. She is passionate about the environment and environmental issues and wants to continue the journey her parents have started.
