These branch cutters are the perfect size for removing smaller branches from your bonsai tree. Branches unto 10mm in thickness can be removed easily and professionally using this tool. What sets branch cutters apart is their ability to leave a ‘concave’ cut, effectively hollowing out a portion of the bonsai trunk at the point of branch removal. If you were to use standard scissors or a saw, this can leave an unsightly lump leading to scarring. The purpose designed ‘concave’ branch cutter creates a hollow space. This specialised cut allows for a healing process that results in a smooth, scar-free surface, beautifully integrated with the trunk’s natural contour.

The 170mm bonsai branch cutter is perfect for removing branches on your bonsai trees up to roughly 10mm in thickness. This tool is great for beginners and enthusiasts due to its cutting power and easy use. This tool is great for styling and shaping and is often called a bonsai side cutter or concave cutter. This size is good for most bonsai trees!

We sell these branch cutters in two sizes; these smaller 180mm concave bonsai branch cutters and a larger 210mm bonsai branch cutter alternative for slightly larger branches.

Branch cutters leave a ‘concave’ cut. It essentially hollows out part of the bonsai trunk where the branch has been removed. If you were just to use string scissors or a saw this would leave a lump which would ultimately scar and be unsightly. The concave branch cutters ‘hollow out’ a small area of the trunk. As it heals, it is then flush with the original trunk and heals beautifully with no scarring.

Higher Grade Bonsai Branches Cutter at a Sensible Price

These tools are of a higher grade, specifically chosen for their performance and durability. We use them on the Bonsai Direct nursery. We have selected this specific make due to the quality and value of the tool. There are cheaper options available, but we find these tools a most excellent quality for the cost. Even more expensive stainless steal tools vary dramatically in quality and can be extremely expensive. Cheaper Stainless products seem very poor quality in our experience.
