The Clean Air Tree

Leaves of the Jade bonsai
The magical clean air tree

The perfect air purifying Jade tree is a beautiful and very easy bonsai to care for, with excellent proportions and minimal watering requirements.
The miniature Jade tree (Portulacaria afra) is fairly neat and compact when growing, they are ideal for beginners and children to care for.

Portulacaria Afra trees are native to South Africa, they are enjoyed by Elephants and other wildlife. The leaves are a distinctive gem shape and they are a glossy, vibrant emerald green colour; as they grow older they develop cork bark.

This variety is known to be effective in carbon absorption (which is responsible for climate change). They are aiding in the fight for Clean Air.
Jade trees absorb more carbon from the earth’s atmosphere than most other plants because they are extremely efficient.

The antiseptic juice has excellent medical properties; you can use the juice for soothing rashes, insect stings, blisters and sore throats. These trees are edible but supposedly have a sour taste, I have not personally tasted one.

The perfect air purifying Jade tree is an aesthetically pleasing house plant that is easy to look after. We highly recommend for beginners (especially children) because they require minimal watering and care. These trees are extremely easy to take cuttings from therefore you could grow multiple trees at the same time. A fun activity for the family to do together.

Gifted for financial luck, these trees are “The Money Tree”. With lovely meanings of good luck and prosperity, I think this is the perfect gift for someone special!

Please note, some vets believe that these trees can be toxic to animals. At the nursery, we have cats, dogs and other wildlife which have seen no danger from these trees.

Jade trees benefit from a warm, draft free environment. Keep the soil damp at all times and mist regularly.

These trees are wonderful plants for warm interior places as they do not like being cold.
